Robert

In this chilling story based on real life events a family experience terrifying supernatural occurrences when their son acquires a vintage doll called Robert.
After Paul and Jenny part ways with their sinister housekeeper Agatha, the disgruntled former employee gives a vintage doll called Robert to their son Gene. Soon after Agatha’s departure, strange events begin plaguing the household. Furniture is vandalized, objects are thrown around and maniacal giggles echo through the house in the middle of the night. But nobody believes Gene when he claims Robert is to blame for the disturbances. Paul and Jenny consider the possibility that a supernatural force has taken over their home. But as the occurrences escalate they discover that it’s not the house that’s haunted; it’s the doll.
“Tension in the movie is well done, constructed carefully, under a thin layer of anxiety, fear and expectation. It relies more on a good, decent, cohesive and well-structured plot and in the abilities of the actors involved, than aggressive blood and gore scenes, and special effects, something I think Hollywood should learn from, doing the very opposite thing for a long time now. If you like a good horror movie, you will certainly enjoy Robert, the cursed doll!” – Merchants of Air
“Robert is not a film laden with special effects, gory make-up and dramatic music, instead it is a story that succeeds because of its quiet, subtle nature. So little is seen of the doll in action in the films 90 minutes, yet his presence is felt in every scene because of the sheer atmosphere and impressive acting of the cast. In this film, the drama, psychology and experiences of a modern family are just as relevant as the doll itself. If quiet, insidious and subtle creepiness is your thing, then I recommend this film highly.” – Study Paranormal
“There’s plenty to raise the hairs on the back of your neck, before it hits top gear towards
its undeniably chilling climax.”

Kristen begins to experience vivid nightmares and the local priest falls victim to supernatural attacks. Dormant spirits have been reawakened. Can anyone stop the manifestation of ancient evil or is Kristen fated to pay for her new home’s dark history? “Impressively constructed… Howell (is) excellent here, and brings a balanced, nuanced performance to the role of Kristen, while Bane, as always, shows that his craft is developing with every picture that he’s cast in. Jones’ script, as always, is impeccably researched, which pays dividend in the credible tone of the film.” – The Schlock Pit
“Solidly crafted, very watchable slice of serious horror that hits its targets.” – Cult Films
“Eerie, unsettling and scary as hell.” – DVDFilm.com

„A confident production, mixing visceral ’body horror’ with intimate character-focused thrills for an ultimately fascinating concoction.“ – Cryptyc Rock
„Definitely a movie for true horror buffs. Very well produced, fantastic premise, plenty of great scares.“ – Amazon
„Indie horror films set in one location. Every now and then we get a film that uses this to its advantage to really build suspense and claustrophobia. The sound design here is really effective. The film relies heavily on it as it implies the violence rather than shows it. But when it shows its the effects really work.“ – Letterboxed

Company of Wolves, The

Soon she finds who he is.
“Admirably attempting an adult approach to traditional fairy tale material, ‘The Company of Wolves’ nevertheless represents an uneasy marriage between old-fashioned storytelling and contemporary screen explicitness.” – Variety
“Like all the best fairy-tales, the film is purely sensual, irrational, fuelled by an immense joy in story-telling, and totally lucid.” – Time Out
“The most innovative, intelligent, and visually sumptuous horror film of recent years.” – TV Guide

„Shot well and looks great. The writing is crisp and funny and the film offers more than enough material to keep viewers enthralled and laughing for 90 minutes.“ – BuyZombie.com
„I loved it! This movie is awesome! In fact, ’Me and My Mates vs. the Zombie Apocalypse’ delivered exactly what its crowd-funding campaign promised: ’Aussie tradies, zombies, a shotgun, a cricket bat, sex, blood and a whole lotta fun!’“ – Girls, Guns & Zombies
„Not so much an homage to zombie cinema as it is just simply a fine comedy with the undead in it. And it’s safe to say it falls in line with the greats mentioned above (’Army of Darkness’, ’Shaun of the Dead’), making the bar for Australian-born horror-comedies even higher.“ – Hellnotes

Mary Loss of Soul

She’s dying to get it back.
Mary Solis is a regular 15-year-old girl with a loving family. But after vanishing from her family’s lake house, she returns without any memory of the traumatic events she experienced and without part of her soul. When the family discovers two other girls disappeared the same night, they soon realize that a much greater threat looms over them all.
“This is Jennifer B. White’s first film. She clearly has promise. There’s a great foundation here. Production value as well. There’s mood and the film looks nice.” – Letterboxed
“Mary Loss of Soul is one of those rare kind of cinematic wonders that has a highly imaginative premise and defies all the gratuitous repetition in the horror genre. Suffice to say that regardless of the type of movie on the market today Hollywood has a tendency of finding an effective formula and bludgeoning its demographic over the head, forever wringing out its marketable aspects until bleeding the consumer dry. Once in a blue moon something very special comes along that is near monumental in its potential impact to its anxiously awaiting audience. Mary Loss of Soul is no exception when considering each of these points. The story line will appeal to a vast audience from religious zealots to new age fanatics and of course those with a flair for the paranormal.” – HorrorNews.net

When they attempt to exit, they find that the staircase has turned into an infinitely repeating corridor from which they cannot escape. During the same time frame, a family leaves home for a vacation. They travel down a familiar road towards their destination. As time passes, the stretch of road and the surrounding desert begin to repeat. Like their counterparts in the stairwell, they are also stuck in a loop.
“A unique and visionary film debut with a disturbing premise.” – Cinema Movil
“A fantastic, intriguing and unsettling film.” – Excelsior
“‘The Incident’ isn’t a graphic or violent movie, but a gripping psychological torture session. The simple ’what if?’ scenarios play out in ways that seem ludicrous at first, but jibe with the film’s peculiar internal logic. The production design and world building are extraordinary. This is Mexican director Isaac Ezban’s first feature film, and I can’t wait to see what he’s got in store next.” – Guardian

„Like the majority of ‘Artsploitation’ flicks, (The Perfect Husband) further reaffirms their position as an essential go to destination for audiences seeking originality. Pavetto is a director with a bright future in the genre, and The Perfect Husband is highly recommended.“ – Gruesome Magazine
„‘The Perfect Husband’ is a good viewing experience. Lucas Pavetto is making a case for Italian horror again, and if he’s to be the bearer of the torch, the industry will benefit from it.“ – Modern Horrors
„Pavetto and Vavassori prove they are geniuses when it comes to suspense.“ – Cryptic Rock

„This movie was a lot of fun to watch and got a lot of things right. The complexity in the family dynamic was stellar; it added a deeper level of emotion and fear to a film that could’ve been bland and lifeless if it were not executed thoughtfully and correctly. It was not only entertaining but called into question the effect that grief and guilt has on human beings and how that changes our relationships and lives. Not to mention, this movie has a really cool creepy factor as well, thanks to the strange energy in the house (in every respect). There is something about the story and execution that reeled me in and didn’t let go till the very end.“ – Horror News Net
